Thesis studies issues of beginnings and development of book trade bibliography in Ukraine in XVIII-XX centuries. To reconstruct the objective picture of book trade bibliography from its beginnings publications and archival documents were scrutinized. The basic terms, definitions and social functions (commercial-the basic, registry and evaluative) of book trade bibliography in different historic periods were explained in the dissertation. The definitions of book publishing and book trade bibliographies were formulated. The author described the main periods of book trade bibliography development in Ukraine. XVIII century; first half of the XIX century; second half of the XIX century; the XX century author gives the following periods. It was shown that Ukraine was the first to compile the book trade index.
