Essay

The object is molluscan neurons; the aim is to study the mechanisms of pacemaker activity generation in neurons and influence of triterpene saponins on neuron activity; the methods are the intercellular leading of biopotentials, neuron isolation, intercellular perfusion, patch-clamp technique; novelty - there was studied the origin of the pacemaker activity of identified neurons, there was shown that transient hyperpolarisation of neuronal membrane caused by application of monodesmosidic saponins is related with the raise of K+ current from the cell ; the result is that the mechanism of pacemaker activity generation was studied and the influence of triterpene saponins on neuronal membrane was investigated; the field is clinical medicine.
