Essay

Object - breeding of tomato for heterosis; aim - to determine efficiency of mutant forms usage in tomato heterotic breeding; methods - breeding, organoleptic, biometric, mathematic and statistic ones; novelty - for the first time in conditions of the Forest Steppe of Ukraine there is proved expediency of mutant forms usage for creation of tomato heterotic hybrids; results - there is revealed efficiency of the method of complete and un-complete top-crosses, new polymarker lines with improved economically valuable characters are created, perspective F1 heterotic hybrids adapted for conditions of the Forest Steppe of Ukraine; the degree of introduction - the received initial material is used in breeding programs of the institute and the net of its research stations, created heterotic hybrids passed two years competitive variety testing and are being prepared to be given for the State Variety Testing; the sphere of use - breeding institutions, agroconcerns and enterprises, occupied with tomato production.
