The object is mortality as a component of population reproduction; the aim to explore regularities of the forming of life expectancy at old age; methods of research are the construction of life tables, regression and structural analysis; the new approach lies in the exploration of the both factors of life expectancy fluctuations through the time and regularities of life expectancy differentiation by sex, type of residence and regions; the main include the construction of structural models of life expectancy forming and elaboration of medium-term prognosis of life expectancy at age 60+; the fields are the forming of national social and economic policy, actuarial estimations.
