Essay

The Ukrainian national patriotic movement in the USSR during mid 1950's - late 1980's is investigated in the thesis. The political course of the union-republican leadership made a substantial impact on its development. National patriotic forces applied different forms and methods to achieve national, political, economic and cultural rights. As a mechanism of the state power's counteraction to the development of the Ukrainian national patriotic movement was permanent persecution and oppression of its participants. Ukrainian uncensorial literature ( "samvydav") had the special role in the fight against Soviet political system.
