Essay

The dissertation contains a research work on West Polissian rushnyk, which is considered to be a kind of decorative and applied art formed in syncretic folk environment. The historical evolution of folk art from ritual reality to artistic expression of mythological outlook is being lightened up. The technological cycles of rushnyk production, decoration and ritual use in the context of Western Polissian traditional culture are examined. The composition structure of embroidery, ornamental figurativeness, semantic relation of National Art with outlooking imagination, religion believes, traditional ritualism are subjected to thorough analysis.
