Essay

The thesis investigates the most characteristic forms and peculiarities of the peasant movement in Ukraine of Central Rada period in March 1917 - April 1918, participation of peasantry in the national liberation movement for provision to Ukraine the vast national territorial autonomy as a part of the Russian Federative Democratic Republic, struggle of the Ukrainian peasants for liquidation of the big private landownership and it equalizing distribution according to the working or consumer norms. The attempt of the part of Ukrainian peasantry in organization of common tillage, its transition from the most simple and pacific forms to the direct seizure of the big private estates, alienation of the church and cloister demesne, and sometimes of the land excess of the richest peasantry were analyzed. The candidate for a degree especially emphasized that the lack of land and shortage of land of poor peasantry that saw the solution of these problems through own organization, formation and strengthening of theUkrainian power became the main causes of appearance and aggravation of the agrarian actions. Uncoordinated but significant numerical and actual material was summarized, quantitative indicators of the peasant movement in March 1917 - April 1918 were determined. The main program demands of the peasantry of the period being investigated were determined and the principal scientific results of the thesis were outlined.
