Essay

This dissertation is dedicated to the methodical lingual-semiotic research on metamorphosis being a type of mytho-poetic meaning and trope in the works of N. Gogol and M. Bulgakov. In the course of this work, the ways of metamorphosis objectification in the structure of images of the world created by N. Gogol and M. Bulgakov have been systematized from the point of view of their similarity and differences. The ways of metamorphosis representation in the mytho-poetical worlds of the unconscious (dream, delirium, hallucination), the essential components of the figurative worlds of myth imagery have been explored. The logical and linguistic zones of metamorphosis objectification have been studied by analyzing the typical situation of the metamorphosis, the center of which is built up by the so-called predicates of metamorphosis. In this work the structural-semiotic classifications of the metamorphosis received further development. The dictionary of metamorphosis revealed in the prose works of N. Gogol andM. Bulgakov has been compiled.
