Essay

The present work is devoted to the investigation of direct phosphorylation of 3-dimethylamino-, 3,5-dimethoxybenzoic acids, 2,5-dimethyl-1-phenylpyrrole-carboxylic acid and diethylaminothiazole-4-carboxylic acid derivatives by phosphorus (III) halides. This reaction was shown to be a very convenient method for synthesis of both condensed phosphorus-containing heterocyclic systems and ortho-phosphorylated aromatic and heteroaromatic carboxylic acids derivatives. In particular, several novel heterocyclic systems with a bridgehead phosphorus atom were prepared.
