The thesis outlines public and political actyvity of Mykhailo Halushchnskyy on the basis of handling the published and archival materials, periodicals, memoirs, home and foreign historiography. The factors which have influenced the formation of his public position have been analyzed here. Activity of M.Halushchynskyy as an organizer and chief commander of the legion of the Ukrainian Sichovi Striltsi, head of the "Prosvita" society, senator and deputy of the Polish parliament has been researched.
