Essay

On the basis of the analysis of the works of John Dewey - the classicist of the American social philosophical idea, one of the founders of pragmatism, and also works of foreign and domestic authors concerning the problems of his creative heritage, the concept of a sociocultural adaptation as the decisive mechanism of the socialization progress of the individual to an environment, thus formation of socially active person, formulated and developed by John Dewey, is investigated in the dissertation. There is proved in thesis, that the concept of cultural adaptation, entry of the person in the world of social realities, in order, being there, to influence on it, is a core of the social philosophy of John Dewey, a quintessence of his pragmatic doctrine. The nature of concept of „cultural adaptation" in comprehension of John Dewey is a process of selfdetermination of the human personality in social conditions of life by change of stereotypes of consciousness and behaviour, forms of public organization andregulation, norms and values, directions and technologies of activity, and also nomenclature of her social products, mechanisms of communication and translation of social experience. In the work the concept of cultural adaptation of J.Dewey is described as the optimistic intention with an anticrisis directedness to form the active vital position of the person, the base of which is rationall criticism and creatively targeted activity by criteria of a profit and success („strategic educational pragmatism"). Cultural adaptation is an antipode to „the violent adaptation"; it denies the repressive procedure of education and provides innovative development of the aducationaly adequate effective cultural politics of the state. In the research the conceptual value of the doctrine of J.Dewey about cultural experience as the mechanism of solution of the basic problem of socialization of youth in a context especially actual recently harmonization of personal and public interests as major factor of achievement of life success: „to have an experience is to live" is pointed out. The J.Dewey's doctrine about cultural experience as the determining factor of youth's socialization in the context of vital success, is shown in the dissertation, the pedagogue's views on limitation of connection of training and education as obligatory condition of the "social adaptation" are explained, the role of values of democracy in a context of the concept of cultural adaptation is shown. The sociocultural experience of the individual, the interrelation and interaction of its components, social conditionality, the social cultural situation, individual features of the person etc. are delt with as the main adaptive factors of social philosophy of J.Dewey. John Dewey connects the display of person's intellectual and moral qualities with individual experience as the main condition of self-realization of the man, which causes adaptation by new cultural environment. The problems of unity of education and upbringing in the concept of cultural adaptation andparticipation in this process, first of all schools as public institute of the young man's socialization is examined ib work. The moral-educational function of process of training and education at school, from the point of John Dewey's views, consists of development the abilities, incorporated in human nature, spiritual enrichment of the person, which would give human opportunity to adapt for cultural environment. That's why a moral aspect of John Dewey's pedagogical experimentalism is analyzed in details. The separate attention in work is given to the interaction of democracy and moral education being conceptual installation of John Dewey's social phylosophy. The necessity of recognition of democracy as a determining condition of cultural adaptation is proved, in this education as the factor democratic socialization of youth is done. The well-known thesis of John Dewey that criterion of effective moral education is the optimality of the accepted decision of a moral situation is also explained in thework in details: the interrelation between skill of the man to solve a moral situation and his ability to adaptation in new cultural environment is proved. It is also stressed that the philosophical heritage of John Dewey can ratify in a society a recognition of the fact of inseparability of school functions from process of cultural adaptation, or democratic activity of a society, during which the anybody's individuality is realized and morally brought up man is formed. The necessity for the young man to develop the skills of independent creativity ensures hereafter the forming of ability of innovation intellection and, therefore, to compete in a social-economical world of work and employment. The methods of moral education, which is justified and practically approved by John Dewey, has received gratitude all over the world, including Ukraine. Innovation directedness of the concept of cultural adaptation of John Dewey has especial value in our country taking into account the complex of social and economic realities ofthe development of the market mechanism, in particular problems of education of young generation in conditions of the society of a transient period.
