Opanasenko V. The role of Chernigiv gentry in social and political, cultural and educational life of Ukraine in 1785-1860-th

The object of study - the role of the gentry of Chernigiv province in social and political, cultural and educational life of Ukraine in 1785-1860-th years. The purpose of research is objective determination of role of the gentry of Chernigiv province in social and political, cultural and educational life of Ukraine in 1785-1860-th years. The methods used in the research are: problem-chronological, statistical, descriptive, comparative-historical. The dissertation is devoted to determining the role of the gentry of Chernigiv province in social and political, cultural and educational life of Ukraine in 1785-1860-th years. On the basis of broad circle of sources the birth and formation of the gentry of the ancient chernigiv-siversrkaya land, it's genealogical background were investigated participation of the Cossack patriarchs' issues in crucial social and political events the end of 17-th - the first half of the 19-th century was brought to light, their contribution to the development of culturaland educational institutions of the past centuries was outlined. On the basis of the results of the investigation the author came to the conclusion that the gentry of Chernigiv province, due to the active living position of representatives and to the culture and educational treasury of their ancestors, secured one of the leading positions in the corresponding activities among the gentry of other Ukraine provinces.
