Hrytsan A. Activity of the cultural-educational institute "Prosvita" m Precarpathia during the years 1920-1939

The dissertation covers the overall work areas of the Ukrainian cultural-educational institute "Prosvita", its place and role in Precarpathian Ukrainian society during Polish occupation, and its role in the development of the Ukrainian national identity. The treatise examines the organizational and economic aspects of "Prosvita", and explains its role in the development of the cooperative movement and the dissemination of economic knowledge among the Ukrainian population in Precarpathia. Citing many examples, the author claims that, the centers for cultural-educational activity in Precarpathia were "Prosvita" sponsored local branches and reading-houses, which in turn, became for the institute local centers for educational work.
