Kucherenko A. Ukrainian cultural and educational movement in Kherson gubernia in 1861-1917

The object of study - Ukrainian cultural and educational movement in Kherson gubernia in 1861-1917. The purpose of study is research and study of cultural - educational movement in Kherson Region in the Ukrainian cultural - educational movement of second half ХІХ - beginning ХХ of century. The methods used in the research are: historical-comparative, historical-chronological, historical-genetic. In the dissertation for the first time in the Ukrainian historiography a problem is investigated systematically of origin and development in the Kherson province in the period of 1861-1917 of the organized Ukrainian cultural and educational movement. Activity of "Gromadas", zemstvoes, scientific organizations, "Prosvitas" of Kherson Region is analyzed. The character, forms and features are opened of development of the Ukrainian cultural and educational movement at the specified period. Its evolution from specifically educational forms to methods of political struggle is traced. Separate figures' of movement contribution to a cultural heritage of Ukrainian people is shown.
