Object: photoperiodic reaction of millet varieties and hybrids. Aim: to determine the peculiarities in inheritance and the phenotypic expression of photoperiodic reaction and the duration of vegetation in millet. Methods: breeding, genetical analysis, biometrical, statistical. Novelty: there has been identified and created the new original material for millet breeding on photoperiodic neutral reaction, there has been revealed a cultivar-donor of the weak reaction, the have been determined the peculiarities for expression and inheritance of a photoperiodic reaction. Results: there has been created the new original material with weak photoperiodic reaction and there has been suggested the design for developing breeding cultivars with this trait. Stage of application: lines- sources of weak reaction and a cultivar-donor are being utilized in the breeding process for highly adaptive cultivars development. Application area: breeding institutions.
