Kulyeshova L. The functional-semantic category of truth modality in Russian language (on humanitarian discourse materials

The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of the truth category as a modal characteristics of speech units (statements and texts) as well as its representation in humanitarian texts. It is revealed that the truth modality expresses the speaker's assessment of the statement's truth contents, in other words, the correspondence between language signs and correlating fragments of reality. The classification of the truth modal assessments is proposed which includes the truth of the statements, of the objects, of the essence, analytical truth. The scale of the truth values is also represented including the extreme values of the truth and the falsehood as well as intermediary values. The lingual means of the truth modal assessment, depicted in the dissertation, are the simple narrative sentences, the morphological forms of the verb's tense and mood, the lexical units with truth meanings in modal and non-modal positions, the complex syntactic constructions and the textual means of the truth assessments. Thepeculiarities of the truth modality in humanitarian discourse is revealed.
