This thesis explores the ornamental patterns of Kyiv's St.Sophia Cathedral as an integral component of its decorative system, traces the genesis of the principal ornamental compositions, their graphical and semantic transformations during the conversion in the christian art,their accordance to the Cathedral's ideological and symbolic tasks, its artistic system.
