Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the customs policy and the customs system in Hetmanship in the second half of the XVII-XVIII centuries. The staged development of the native customs system which evolution had been conditioned by changes in home and foreign politics of the country was retraced. The course and the consequences of the customs reform in 1753-1757 for the Left-bank, the customs taxation principles inculcation on the example of Russia on it's territory were studied. Much attention was given to staff, functions and activity of the customs service in the XVIII century. On the basis of the analysis of the customs profitability on the west frontier of Hetmanship in the second half of the XVIII century the effectiveness of their work was evaluated.
