Essay

On the basis of the analysis of the archive documents, recollections, letters, materials of mass media, Ukrainian and foreign historiography there have been researched M. Hrushevsky's life and activity in the context of the Ukrainian national rebirth at the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century. Theoretical and methodological bases of the Ukrainian spiritual rebirth, introduced have been substantiated in the work. The forms and methods of implementation of his ideas in cultural and educational spheres of the activity of Ukrainians are presented. Hrushevsky's role and place in the national and cultural life of Ukraine during the studied period have also been disclosed.
