Polyakov V. Historical evolution of toponymy of Simferopol

Subject of the study is a city toponomy (place-names): names of the streets, lanes, avenues, passages, boulevards, quays of Simferopol as well as toponomy of other cities and towns of Ukraine and Russia. Goals and objectives of the study. Goal of the study is a new understanding of nature and specifics of city geographic names as a historico-cultural phenomenon. To reach this goal the certain objectives have been gradually realized which are in line with the provisions given below: - Using city toponomy to study the gradual socio-political development of Simferopol. - To learn the influence of politics and ideology over city toponomy at all stages of history of the city-life. - To sort out the periods of toponomy of Simferopol and review their characteristics. - To find out the factors for appearing of new toponomy layers and their impact on the ones that existed. - To identify an order of toponomy evolution. - To identify the interrelations between toponomy and social consciousness of the certain epoch. - To analyze and if needed to develop a new legal mechanism for naming places. - To study contemporary toponomy and find out the ways to correct it since the socio-political situation has changed keeping in mind the historical experience, language rules, ethics and esthetics.
