Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to research of peculiarities of realization of the idea of entire child study in scientific works of native paedologists of the first third of 20th century. The integral description of formation history of basic conceptual and methodological approaches is given in the range of native paedology from the positions of contemporary concepts of scientific thought development logic. It is shown that the theoretical footing of the Ukrainian paedology was not the Western paedologic conception, but native scientific thought of scientists-predecessors. Major causes of prohibition of paedology were not internal scientific antagonisms, but social-political conditions of the state, dominating ideology. It is revealed in the work that the Ukrainian version of the paedologic science has its own substantial peculiarities: application of reflexological experiment to investigation of childhood; concentration on "severe" childhood, including with maldevelopments (blind deaf-mutes); introduction of technique of natural experiment and other methods of personality study and behaviour of a child. The results of the research proved that the idea of entire study of psyche of a child resumes its development in the works of contemporary Ukrainian psychologists and, in particular, in the works of one of G.S.Kostiuk pupils - S.D.Maksymenko.
