Harat R. Harat R.M. Activities of society "Prosvita" in Galychyna (1868-1921)

In this thesis the premises of the coming into being, the purposes of the foundation and the main stages of the "Prosvita's" development in the Eastern Galychyna of 1868-1921 have been studied complexly. The investigation has been done on the wide source basis. The integral picture of the "Prosvita's" cultural and educational activity, its role and significance in the social-political and social-economical life of the region in the mentioned period of time is shown in the dissertation. The stress is laid on the positive consequences of the "Prosvita's" educational, organizational, economical, industrial, theatrical, artistic work for the population. A great attention is paid to the research of the "Prosvita's" importance in formation of national self- consciousness of the people in Galychyna, the unity of the Ukrainian nation.
