Khmel'nytskoy region. Purpose: complex study of the system of city settlements of region for optimization of its territorial organization in the conditions of transformation of society. Methods: systems approach statistical is mathematical, cartographic design. Results: The main lines of modern urbaniation processes in agro industrial regions are certain. The structure of the system of city settlements is trained, above all directions of transformation of functions of cities are explored in the conditions of market transformations, the ways of perspective complex development of city settlements of the Khmel'nytskoy region are grounded.
