Matviychuk O. Activity of school libraries on securing information needs of senior pupils

The thesis studied the process of securing information needs of senior pupils by the ways of school library. The thesis presented conceptions concerning the role of a library of an educational establishment as a center of securing the needs in information. The theoretic analysis was carried out concerning functioning of a library of the general educational institution (school library-information center, library-mediathec). The author considered theoretic and methodological basis of studying the information needs, researched their content and structure, analyzed information and communication activity of senior pupils. Specific character of up-grading the skills of school librarians under the conditions of post-diploma education and components of their professional competence were studied. The author elaborated and substantiated the model of activity of a school library in the direction of effective securing of information needs of senior pupils. Structural elements of this model are researches of pupils' needs in information, creation of book funds, up-grading professional competence of a school librarian, forming of library and information skills of senior pupils.
