Badyeyeva L. The activities of 'Prosvita' society in the Left Bank Ukraine in the XX-th century

The object of study - history of activity of "Prosvita" society in the Left-Bank Ukraine in ХХ century. The purpose of study is research of activity of "Prosvita" society in the Left-Bank Ukraine during of all ХХ century. The methods used in the research are: problem-chronological, statistical, descriptive, comparative-historical. The practical value of the dissertation consists in an opportunity of use of the given material for a spelling of generalizing works on a history of national-cultural movement in Ukraine, for deployment of the further researches of activity of "Prosvita" society in other regions of our country, and also at reading lecture and special courses on a domestic history and culturology. The dissertation is devoted to the research of the activities of "Prosvita" society in the Left Bank Ukraine during the XX-th century. On the base of wide range of archive sources the state in educational and cultural life of the Left-Bank Ukraine at the beginning of the XX-th century has beeninvestigated as well as the process of "Prosvita" society foundation, the main directions and forms of its activities during different periods of time have been followed. The periods under consideration include the pre-revolutionary time, the period of Ukrainian national -democratic revolution, the World War II period and that of Ukrainian independence. On the base of the investigation results the author came to the conclusion that the fact of arising "Prosvita" society and its activities were caused by the historical events development in Ukraine and the lack of full rights of the indigenous Ukrainian nation. This social organization took the responsibilities of the state as for keeping the national language alive, raising the Nation's self-consciousness and the functions of educational and cultural development in Ukraine. The society showed the ways of the national revival and was the realizer of its ideas.
