Subject of inquiry - the indices of total plant height and tehnical stem length, seed producton elements fibre contents in stems and its quality, lodging and diseast resistance, the length of vegetation period; the methods of the assessment of breeding mfterial of fibre flax at erly selection stages.The breeding value of new genetic material is determinate and the methods of its use in the selection process are suggested. The new genetic sources of major economic characters are selekted. The use efficiency is determined on the basis of improved breeding methods, cutting the mobey expenses for development of new fiber flax varieties. Its is used at the Flax Division of the Institute of Agriculture of the UAAS, the Institute of Bast Grops of the UAAS,the Institute of Agriculture of the Polissia of the UAAS, the Institute of Agriculture and Stock-Breeding of the Western Regions of the UAAS.
