Khylko M. Philosophic and outlook basis of Ukrainian geopolitical thought

The dissertation is the first in scientific thought research of philosophic and outlook basis of Ukrainian geopolitical thought, i.e. its fundamental principles, the most general essential features, value orientations, ideals, traditions. It was identified that Ukrainian geopolitical thought has been developing within and simultaneously with world geopolitical thought. At the same time its development had some dissimilarities stipulated by philosophic and outlook traditions of Ukrainian geopolitical thought as well as with definite historical and political circumstances, in particular, absence of Ukrainian state, long-lasting experience of national subjection. The author proposed his own classification of main trends in the development of the world's and Ukrainian geopolitical thought which mostly influenced scientific, social and political spheres. It was established that the majority of Ukrainian researchers represented geopolitical trends of "mondealism", "Middle Europe", "applied geopolitics". Forthe first time the aspects of philosophic and outlook traditions of Ukrainian geopolitical thought were articulated in the dissertation. It was established that these aspects are mostly not material but social and mental: mentality, religion, culture, natural human rights etc. For the first time the distinctive features of Ukrainian geopolitical thought were established. These are: absence of imperialism; respect of the right of nations for self-determination; confidence in the necessity of mutual respect and mutual advantage of cooperation among states; scientific researches were not influenced by any ideology; humanism; integrated approach to the subject of geopolitical science. These features were inherited from history of domestic social and political thought, based on wide philosophic and outlook basis, corresponding with humane and tolerant mentality of our people.
