Essay

Basing on the re-examination of sources and critical revision of historiography the formation appanage principalities in Volhynia has been studied. The development of the provincial dynasties (the Ihorevychi and the Rostyslavychi) has been reviewed against the background of the Rurikids collective system of rule. Some important issues of historical geography, princely genealogy, and sphragistics of South Western Rus' has been researched.
