Essay

There were elaborated preparative approaches to new types of electron-deficient polyhaloalkaneimines with functional groups at the imine carbon atom, important reactive synthons which are useful in the synthesis of biologically active derivatives of aminophosphonic and aminocarboxylic acids. The basic features of their reactions with phosphorus compounds were elucidated. A series of novel transformations were found out, i.e., new diad rearrangements connected with the N-C and C-N transfer of a sulfonyl or phosphoryl group, the unusual acylation of the electrophilic imine carbon atom by tervalent phosphorus isocyanates.
