Thesis for a candidate's degree by speciality 07.00.01 - History of Ukraine.- Vladimir Dal Eastern Ukrainian national University, Luhansk, 2004. On the basis of the analysis and generalizations of archival documents, statutory acts and an actual material are opened a place and a role of women in construction of a civil society, their participation in political and social and economic life of a modern Ukrainian society. The legislative both normative base and practice of realization of its positions is analysed. On concrete examples it is shown, that the embodiment in life of many laws and statutory acts promotes increase of a role of women in political and social and economic life of the country. At the same time necessity of amplification of work for a direction of improvement of a legal field of ability to live of women, activity of female public associations is proved. The status of women in the independent Ukrainian state is characterized. Tendencies are opened and stages of development of a women's movement are determined during the statement of independence of Ukraine, the form and methods of their activity. The significant attention is given to disclosing of features of functioning of female public organizations of charitable character. The data on representation of women in the central and local bodies of the government and local self-management are analysed and generalized. Features of work of women in scientific, educational and cultural establishments are opened. It is shown, that women take a priority place in sphere of health protection. Recommendations of the further perfection of the state female politics are formulated
