Modern Western and domestic philosophical theoretical and methodological approaches towards the interpretation of such notions as civilization, modernization, postmodernization, transformation are analysed. On the basis of this analysis the author's own interpretation of the mentioned above notions is suggested; their place and role in the system of sociophilosophical categories are shown. The essence of modern transformations of socioeconomicaland political structures of "postsoviet" Ukraine is investigated. The idea is grounded that sociocultural component is determinative in this process, as it can direct these transformations and create the basis of further social modernization.
