The thesis deals with a study of the specific characteristics of prenatal morphogenesis of the human biliary system. For the first time a complex study of structural transformations of the common bile duct in chronological succession from its anlage till the birth of an infant inclusive has been carried with the help of informative morphological methods. It has been shown that the anlage of common bile duct in 4 week old embryos has a lumen and the anlage of the muscular sphincter of the hepatopancreatic ampulla is formed in the thickness of the major duodenal papilla independently of its muscular layer. It has been proved that the growth of the common bile duct proceeds unevenly during the fetal period, with periods of acceleration and slowing down. An original mode of simulating a stricture of the common bile duct has been elaborated on the basis of researching the structure of the arterial bed of the common bile duct. The established critical periods of the development of the common bile duct (weeks6-9, months 4, 8) must be expediently taken into account, while carrying out antenatal prophylaxis of the origin of congenital anomalies and defects of the biliary system.
