Essay

After studying the original literature, came to the conclusion that foundation and development of media educational technologies in America were determined by the social, political, economic, psychological and pedagogical factors. The general stages of the development of media educational technologies in American Education were defined there.The process of existence of media education as a separate branch of investigation in American Pedagogy is analyzed. The definition of such pedagogical concepts as media education, media literacy, media competence, visual literacy is grounded. It was determined that the main aims of the American media education are: the youth training for the life in the conditions of modern information society, the perception of various kinds of information, understanding its influence on man’s psychology, mastering the ways of contact on the base of unverbal forms of communication with the help of techniques and modern information technologies.
