Sosnina L. Adaptation of English onyms in Russian of the second half of the XXth - XXIth century.

Object is the adaptation of English onyms in Russian. The aim is the analysis of the English-Russian language interaction on a material of the English onyms, adapted in Russian of the second half of the XXth - XXIth century. Methods - descriptive, rather - comparative, quantitative analysis. In order to provide a complex analysis of this process we investigate its main tendencies. The peculiarities of declination and graphic presentation of English onyms taken from newspapers and magazines are studied there. Transcription and transliteration are considered as the most important ways of adaptation. The attention is paid to the problem of translation of proper names. Phonetic adaptation and graphic presentation of English onyms in modern Russian, substitutions of English vowels and consonants, transfer of geminated consonants are introduced. The differencies between two phonetic systems are given. The process of word formation was completed by the end of the XXth century. English affixes are describedas the parts of toponyms and antroponyms. Structural assimilation of horonyms and oikonyms is presented in this work. Spheres of use are lexicography the training courses.
