Object - the complex of the construction used in the development of a continental shelf. The purpose - development of theoretical basis for designing lay barges with a S-lay of the underwater pipeline. Methods - work is based on use of theoretical methods of vessel designing, the systematical approach to research, economical - mathematical methods of research, the theory of trailing systems, methods of realization of modeling tests of vessels and data processing. Novelty - introduced for the first time in view of experimental research approaches and the dependences that are connecting basic elements and main sides of lay barges with weight units of loading and characteristics of the process equipment, parameters of criterion function are specified, the mathematical model of stacking of the pipeline is developed. Results were used while designing lay barges in "Central design office "CORAL". Branch - vessel designing.
