Kornyeyeva H. Ukrainian Children's Book of the Eastern Halychyna: Historical and Area Studies Aspect (Second part of 19th century - 1939)

The dissertation is a first attempt of historical and area studies research of Ukrainian children's books in the Eastern Halychyna (second part of 19th century - 1939). The distinctive features of establishing and functioning of publishing houses, associations and unions, which published them, were researched. The characteristics of the publishing repertories are provided. The ways of book distribution are discovered. The dissertation gives the analysis of children's books: the target and readership purpose, contents evolution and types of publications. Their functioning in a readers' environment is shown. The important role of a printed word in educating a harmonically developed, nationally conscious and Christian individual in the complex historic circumstances is emphasized.
