The research objects - the system of Ukrainian-German relations in 1914-1920.The aim of investigation is the analysis of evolution of the Ukrainian-German relations in 1914-1920.The methods of investigation are general scientific: historical, logical; specialized historical: analytical-synthetic, problematic-chronological, diachronic (method of periodic division), comparative-historical, retrospective.The theoretical results and novelty of investigation consists in the fact that a complex investigation of the evolution of Ukrainian-German relations in 1914-1920 has been carried out for the first time in Ukrainian historiography. The importance of the general European context in the bilateral relations has been highlighted. The tasks undertaken by the Ukrainian and the German diplomacies at every stage in the bilateral relations have been analyzed. The disagreements that arising between the state structures in Ukraine as well as in Germany in the curse of determination and implementation of the nationalstrategies and tactics of the bilateral relations has been revealed. The interrelation of the political and economic aspects of the bilateral relations have been traced clarified, and the evolution of this interrelation during the period investigated has been outlined.The practical results and novelty of investigation consists in the fact that having compared the factual data provided in scholarly literature with the primary sources, the author has uncovered a number of errors as regards the position and the role of the Ukrainian-German relations of the period under investigation in the general European context, the plans of the parties regarding each other as well as the role of the financial and economic aspects in the bilateral relations, and has attempted to overcome these stereotypes.The subject and the degree of indoctrination: the data on the Ukrainian-German relations investigated in the thesis were used for the writing of a monograph as well as in a number of articles and reports presented at scientific conferences.The sphere of use: the study of the corresponding aspect of the history of Ukraine, local history researches and museum work, delivery of lectures, practical classes, and seminars at higher education establishments, writing textbooks on the history of Ukraine which will be the basis for compulsory and elective courses at universities.
