Influence of philosophical doctrines (neothomism, utilitarianism, pragmatism, positivism, dialectic materialism, existentialism, cognitivism, freudism, humanism etc.) on the educational purposes forming is studied.Tendencies of educational purpose progressing in developed countries of the world (Great Britain, the USA, Japan) and Ukraine are investigated. Among leading tendencies we single out the purpose role increasing in progressing of educational process; general long term goal setting undertaken at the national level that forms the basis of education and the direction of school efforts; differentiated aims defining at regional level; precise short term objectives concretizing at school level and deciding on how the objectives can be achieved.
