Object of the research - - upbringing of pupils of professional schools of Halychyna (the first third of the XX th century). Aim of the research - to analyze and generalize the theoretical creation and practical experience of civic upbringing of pupils of Ukrainian professional schools of Halychyna of the first third of the XX- th century to find out the ways for its use in activity of modern educational establishments of professional educational system of Ukraine. Methods of the research - concrete-search method, comparative-analytical method, historic-geographical method, chronological method. Scientific novelty and theoretical significance of the research consist in that aim, context, forms and methods of civic upbringing of pupils of Ukrainian professional schools of Halychyna in the first third of the XX-th century have been analyzed for the first time; the contribution of Ukrainian pedagogs of Halychyna in civic upbringing in the context of social-political and economical conditions of Halychynahave been studied; the preconditions of inauguration of Ukrainian professional schools in Halychyna have been found out; important and little known literature is put into scientific usage. Practical significance of the results of the research consist in systematization and generalization of accumulated materials in problems of civic upbringing of pupils of Ukrainian professional schools of Halychyna. The materials, basic principles of the dissertation and the conclusions, which were presented during the special course "Civic upbringing of pupils of professional schools of Halychyna (the first third of the XX th century)", can be used in the courses and seminars in Pedagogics and History of Ukrainian Pedagogics, for creation of educational and methodical textbooks.
