Dubchak O. Ways of creation of sterile lines of sugar beet and their breeding value.

A thesis for obtaining the scientific degree of a candidate of agricultural sciences on speciality: 06.01.05 - plant breeding. The Institute for sugar beet of UAAS, Kyiv, 2005. The thesis presents experiences in sugar beet breeding with the use of monogerm CMS lines obtained with the help of exoplasma's property to inherit factors of combining ability. The thesis shows ways for development of a production-valuable hybrid, registered under the name of "Vesto". Thereby the possibility of creation of combinationally-valuable CMS materials on the basis of the exoplasma of valuable CMS lines is confirmed. Studies of several analogues of sterility maintainers were carried out on the basis of the exoplasma of a CMS component of the "Vesto" hybrid in the process of reproduction in several generations which shows possibility of obtaining stable components for hybridization with the aim of development of high-heterozis hybrids. Prospectivity of selections of valuable initial materials among recombinant productsof splitting high productive hybrids has been proved.
