Gejda O. Development of the Church-Historic Studies in Chernihiv Region in the Second Half of the XVII - Beginning of the XX cent.

In the dissertation on the ground of considerable source base the basic tendencies and directions of development of the church - historic study in Chernihiv region during the second half of the XVII - beginning of the XX cent. are first explored. The contribution of separate researchers, local church periodicals, Brotherhood of St. Michael, the Prince of Chernihiv, Chernihiv church-archaeological Committee and Chernihiv church - archaeological Society in study and popularization of church history of the region are analyzed in the research work. It is proved that the development of church-historic study in Chernihiv region consistently passed the stages of origin, becoming and organizational figuration. Coming up to rather high level and scientific maturity, it was interrupted after final establishment of the soviet power in the region. It is marked that property of local researchers of church antiquity deserves detailed study, objective estimate and critical use on the modern stage of development of historical science and regional researches in Ukraine.
