Thesis deals with the research of cultural and educational development of the Ukrainian peasantry during the period of the Ukrainianization. On the basis of thorough analysis of numerous archives materials, statistic sources, scientific works we tried to make attempt of complex investigation of the preconditions of the Ukrainianization, its essence and influence on the public, social, educational and cultural life of the population of the Ukr.SSR. The work of educational and cultural institution of village, the forms of elimination of illiteracy among peasant was described.
