The thesis is devoted to the study of Hungarian embroidery in Transcarpathia as a dominant means of decorative design of the dwelling interior, church attribute and clothes. Historical conditions of the development of this kind of art in Transcarpathia duringthe period between the 19 th century ­ the first quarter of the 20 th century have been investigated. The thesis also reveals stylistic peculiarities and regional mutual influences closely connected with general historical and cultural processes which took place on the territory of former Austria ­ Hungarian Empire. The original style of Hungarian ornamental motif indicates its richness of content and philosophical ground which is an important factor of revealing of embroidery semantics of Transcarpathian Hungarians.
