Essay

The thesis sets out to provide solving the problems of developing efficient surgical methods of treatment of hip and knee joints with children suffering cerebral palsy. The basic principle of contracture correction has been determined to be their earliest elimination prior to formation of pathologic stereotypes in the central nervous system in top-down direction. There have been developed clear indications for different methods of surgical contracture correction depending on their type and degree as well as the patient's age. There has been grounded, in terms of pathogenetics, developed and implemented the method of contracture correction by means of selective neurotomy and heterotopic myoneurotisation of the gluteus maximus muscle or the broad medial thigh muscle by the posterior branch of the obturator nerve.
