Gondulenko N. Medical and social rehabilitation of invalids with asthma

The thesis presents materials of clinical, functional and psychological study of 180 patients with asthma: 135 invalids and 45 persons who were not classified as invalids. Rehabilitation program were realized in 30 invalids. The basic factors leading to disability due to asthma are found out. Medical factors are severity and character of disease motion, inadequate control, presence of concomitant pathology - make 78 % cases. Under the determination of disability group a leading role belongs to the social factors in 33,1 % patients (work in the contraindicated condition, loss of profession, inefficient work arrangement and other). Clinical and functional features of disease motion, state of the cardio-respiratory system and functional activity of invalids were exposed, and also their psychological features and low level of quality of life were revealed. It was given scientific ground of using rehabilitation program in invalids with asthma taking into consideration the medical, social, professional and psychological aspects of rehabilitation. Implementation the individual programs of reha-bilitation for invalids with asthma promote to achieve the disease control, allow to improve functional and mental status in patient, to promote stabilization of disease course, to improve vital activity and quality of life.
