Yermolaeva G. The development of abilities for managing activity of librarians

The thesis is devoted to revealing, theoretical substantiation and experimental testing of laws, conditions and methods of the development of librarians' skills for managing modern libraries. It has been proved that introduction of a new concept of a modern library management demands the new administrative approaches and the new type of a library manager. The essence of abilities for managing activity has been developed in the thesis. Requirements to the head of modern library have been investigated, the maintenance and the organization of administrative training in the field of education in library science has been developed. The methodology of the management skills development has been revealed. A method and results of sociological survey of the library experts which have been carried out in Ukraine during last 10 years have been generalized. The results of an independent experimental research concerning the professional skills of library managers (on the example of libraries managers in the SouthernRegion of Ukraine) have been submitted. The educational model for development of professional management skills in modern library administration was developed.
