Tsvigun O. Demography processes in Greek minority of Donetsk region (90-th years of XX century – be-ginning of XXI century)

In the dissertation in was defined the degree of scientific working out of the problem, sources and methodological base of investigation. Analysis of the results of general censuses of the population 1989 y. and 2001 y. helped to reveal demographical changes in Greek minority in Donetsk region in context of general Ukrainian indexes. The question of national identification in independent Ukraine was illuminated. Rates of assimilation processes among Greek inhabitants in Donetsk region was defined. It was made the analysis of main reasons, scales and trends of modern Ukrainian Greeks’ migration, consequences of their leaving our country. Modern state of the problem of repatriation of inhabitants of Greek origin in our land was determined. It was designated the role of the Ukrainian legislation for development of Greek societies of the region. The activity of Greek societies of Donetsk region for unity of their minority was illuminated. It was disclosed the role of World Council of foreign Greeks, government, public organizations and privet persons of Greek in social-economical and cultural life of their countrymen and country-women in the Ukraine.
