This dissertation is written in the context of Ukrainian national renaissance as a research Y.Sitsinsky's (1859-1937) role as historian, public person, educator of clergy at the end of XIX - thirties of XX century. Here the process of his development as scientist is followed up; investigated his participation in scientific societies as initiator of ethnographic movement and organizer of regional researches, determined importance of his creative inheritance in modern Ukrainian Historical Studies.
