Essay

Thesis is focused on concepts forming the frame structure named "Armed conflict" of Russian linguistic and cultural tradition. The etymology of the word "Concept", the stages and ways of concepts' studying, the structure of concept and its determinations existing in modern science, the phenomena of concept sphere are analyzed in the research, as well as "concept" is being separated from margin terms and its synonyms. The analysis of theory dates permitted to formulate 3 antinomies of the concept. Based on the forming meanings the content of the concept is determined. These concepts ("Война", "Бой", "Сражение", "Битва", "Брань", "Поединок", "Набег") form the frame's nuclear, the position called Actions' name. The set of peripheral positions of the frame is determined by such concepts as "Воин", "Герой", "Товарищ", "Молодец", "Брат", "Сын" (frame position Agent-subject), "Враг" (frame position Agent-object), "Родина", "Мир", "Победа", "Свобода", "Слава", "Месть" (frame position Motive), "Отвага", "Смелость", "Удаль", "Мужество" (frame position Agent's characteristics). The typical and specific concepts for Russian Culture are determined by comparison with the concepts of English and Italian cultures.
