Essay

Activity of the "Rural owner" society in 1899-1944 in the context of national and political, economical and cultural development of Ukrainian lands in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, in the Poland and in USSR is explored. Social and economical, national and political pre-conditions of society creation and stages of its activity are traced. Basic directions and forms of society's work in a different period of its existence are shown. Training of specialists for practical work in the rural conditions and role of organisation in the improvement of welfare of the Ukrainian peasant are highlighted.
